All About Baptism

Who can get baptized?

Anyone who has surrendered their life to Jesus Christ. Baptism is a public declaration that you are a follower of Jesus Christ. It is a public confession of your faith in, and commitment to, Jesus Christ. It is the next step after salvation through repentance and faith and is an important foundation for the Christian life. Baptism is a symbol of Christ’s burial and resurrection. Our entrance into the water during baptism identifies us with Christ’s death on the cross, His burial in the tomb, and His resurrection from the dead.

  • Colossians 2:12-14 “For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with Him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for He forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.”

Baptism is a symbol of your new life as a Christian. We bury the ‘old life’ and we rise to walk in a ‘new life'. Baptism is like a wedding ring, it is the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart, a commitment that has to be followed through and lived out on a daily basis.

  • II Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
  • Romans 6:4 “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”

Can Children get Baptized?

We believe in baptizing children when they are old enough to understand what it means and make a personal declaration of belief. We allow parents to help navigate that with their children. If you are a child or teenager we ask that you communicate with your parents so they can be a part of this with you.

When Can I get Baptized?

Typically we host a baptism service in the summer months and take advantage of the beautiful lakes around us. However, we also have used some other creative methods for those that do not want to wait. We totally understand, we are so excited about this next step, we will do whatever we can to make it happen as soon as possible.

Who can come? Everyone! We invite you to invite as many people as possible to celebrate. While we decide in the stillness of our hearts to follow Jesus, Baptism is the public declaration of our faith. It is also a moving testimony and encouragement to others when you share this moment with them.
